Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the benefits of football family scholarship and volunteering for the community. First family: he's the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the United States by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. In the three seasons he was Oklahoma's main linebacker and the team went three-and-a-half and won two championships. Selmon was granted a 3rd scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours each week working as a volunteer throughout his time at college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played as a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. In 1988 he became an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of the country's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he joined his current position at University of South Florida as assistant director of athletics. The College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
